Discovering the joy of flower arranging - A message from the founder

When I was 8 we moved across the country from Wales to a little village in Norfolk. I remember the first summer in our new home running through the meadow grasses at the bottom of the garden, feeling the stalks scratch and tickle my ankles. That part of the back garden was always kept wild. Dad would cut one straight path through the long grass, and one curved path along the opposite side of the meadow. If you looked closely you would find Cowslips, Lady’s smock and Forget-me-nots; the dragonflies would hover over the river at the very end, and then suddenly disappear through the Cow Parsley. It’s this sort of childhood which can’t fail to make you a nature lover.

The older I get, the more fascinated I become by plant life on Earth. Back in 1995 I recall watching a time lapse sequence of a blackberry bush in an episode of David Attenborough’s ‘The Private Life of Plants’. Did you know they can grow 5cm (2 inches) per day (it feels like metres in my garden!) and their sharp spines are shaped backwards especially designed to snag on things, including us humans - ouch! Plants are powerful creatures that can smother and destroy, but they also help us to breathe.

As we inhabit smaller spaces and more of us move into flats, it’s more important than ever to understand  plants and, if we observe and nurture them, in turn they can nourish us.

All Floribana products aim to be part of this journey to appreciate and enjoy flora and fauna. Our flower stands are designed to help you easily create joyful displays for your home, whatever size or number of inhabitants.

Join the journey!
