What is a Flower Stand?

The Inspiration

‘Floribana’ is the name we give our Ikebana inspired bamboo flower holders. Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arranging, where simplicity and shape is key. Indeed, the vessel that holds the flowers is as much part of the display as the flowers themselves.

Traditional Japanese flower arranging is considered a Fine Art with strict rules. However, nowadays Ikebana displays are much less formal, such as these 'Modern Freestyle' arrangements.

How is the Floribana different?

The Floribana flower stand is a unique free-standing holder made from eco-friendly bamboo into which dry stems are easily inserted. Unlike a vase, the Floribana has a pattern of holes carefully cut into a bamboo block to help the flowers stay in a particular place.

There are holes of different sizes to accommodate a variety of stems and it is easy to make a balanced, symmetrical display. We recommend the use of of dried, preserved and artificial flowers. The Floribana is not suitable for wet stems.

Each flower holder is made from a species of giant ‘Moso’ bamboo and is hand finished with food safe wood oil. There currently two colours of Floribana: natural and caramel, and these are available in three shapes, circle, oblong and square.

Versatile piece of kit

Since dried and silk flower stems will often weigh less than fresh, the stand can hold both taller more impressive displays, as well as smaller more intimate arrangements.

The Floribana makes it simple to create great looking flower displays to enhance your home and workspace. 

All the stands are:

• Easy to use: insert your chosen flowers, foliage and seed heads into the holes provided.
• Easy to move: the stands are light enough to move even when full of flowers and the deep holes keep the stems in place whilst moving.
• Easy to store: the blocks come snuggly wrapped in a soft felt wrap.
